The fountain was just one of many amazing things at Butchart Gardens on Sunday.  They are 100 years old this year, and have been delighting crowds of visitors for all that time.  When we were going in I said to Lyn, I just want to be blown away like I was at the Chihuly Exhibition and Garden.   Well…………I wasn’t disappointed.

When we entered we thought it was all very pretty, and then just happened to wander up a small hill through some woods and came back out into the sunshine and were looking down into the sunken garden.  It literally took my breath away.  And that was only the beginning.  There are many photos below – I just hope they give you some idea of the scope of these beautiful, beautiful gardens.

And then – we had High Tea!  Which consisted of a small dish of trifle with fresh berries to clear our palate, and then half a dozen different tea sandwiches, ginger scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, 4 different kinds of cake, and a chocolate truffle.  Plus our choice of tea:  I had a China tea with rose petals, and Lyn had a black tea with different berry flavorings.  All was delicious, and beautifully presented.

And thus ended a fantastic vacation, with 3 items checked off my Bucket List:  Butchart Gardens, the train ride west, and the glaciers in Glacier National Park.    Big sigh of contentment, and a realization of how lucky I am to have been able to make this journey.
