This is going to be a “starting somewhere in the middle” kind of post, because I thought I had posted last year’s trip, and I see I haven’t, mainly because I didn’t actually make it last year!  I was at Blowing Rock two years ago, before I started keeping this blog.  My church denomination has a conference center there, and a group of retired United Church of Christ ministers and spouses meet there in early  October each year for a few days.  It’s a great conference center and a great group of people but you’ll have to take my word for that, as I didn’t take any photos of the conference center, friends, or the beautiful surrounding mountains this year.  So – watch this space – for a whole year, until I’m back there again!!

This year I spent time at their beautiful art museum, and found a wonderful walk quite near town.  The weather was beautiful and cool, after the heat of a Savannah autumn.  Still not much color in their trees though.  Blowing Rock is such a nice little town tucked into the Pisgah National Forest in the Smokey Mountains.  Friendly mountains, with lots of trees on top, very different from my visit to the Rockies in August.
