On a sunny, cool afternoon I found myself at Gibbs Gardens, in the northwest corner of Georgia.  These gardens are the unique creation of Jim Gibbs.  There are 220 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range of north Georgia that Jim has lovingly been landscaping for almost 40 years.  He has created a beautiful public garden that is still evolving.  He and his wife live in the Manor House at the highest point in the gardens, and they invite their visitors right onto their lawns and terraces as well as the rest of the gardens.  I took advantage of a trolley ride up to the Manor House, but from there I walked down and through the gardens, a 2 1/2 mile wander through a peaceful garden, with only the sounds of birds and trickling water.  A very nice way to spend an afternoon.
